Who are the Savvy Park Runrz

We an England Athletics affiliated club; who are a group of runners of all abilities and other experiences, who came together to have fun, support and encourage one and feel better about ourselves both physically and mentally… and raise money for charity along the way.

Where are you based

We are based in Savile Park, Hightown, Castleford – and meet in the Cricket club car park.

When are your runs

Evening Runs – We meet on Monday and Wednesday at 18.30. During the winter months, runners are required to wear hi hiz. The routes are varied and include some out and back routes, to allow flexibility on distance with routes usually up to 8km. New runners are welcome to come along before signing up as members, please let us know or by contacting us either via Messenger on Facebook or info@savvyparkrunrz.co.uk

Park Runs – We are aware a number of runners take advantage of the Saturday morning Park Runs; your nearest Park Runs are:
– Pontefract Park
– Rothwell Park
– Nostell Priory

Weekend Runs – Our runners regularly arrange social runs, these vary in distance and pace. Examples of these may include: Trail/Cross country e.g. The use of the local towpaths; St Aidens/Fairburn or distance road running.

Track Nights – We arrange a monthly club track night and many of our member arrange interval sessions at Thornes Park, Wakefield.

Events

Throughout the year we plan to hold events. These could include:
– Bruce Smeaton 10k in May
– Stanley Ferry 10 miler (a lovely run down the towpaths… and maybe a drink!)
– Summer Beach Party/Summer Sizzler!
– Remembrance Sunday Poppy Run
– Elves Christmas Cheer Run!
… and there will be definitely some social events… we don’t just run!
